TPS65988: Power on BOOT and VCONN

Part Number: TPS65988

In my design Dock station have two ports for external power supply:

The first is Type C charger connected to port B of TPS65988

the second is Standard Power supply with DC jack.

in both cases the Buck 3.3V supply to system VIN_3V3 (pin #5) of TPS65988.

The first question is PP1_cable mandatory? Can I leave this pin floating?

The second question is which hardware strap configuration in pin ADCIN1_BUSPOWER (#36) I should implement to right boot?

I actually have two cases.

The system can be powered from an external supplier as a self-powered device.

And sometimes the system needs to be powered from the B (Sink) port of the TPS65988 using an external type-C charger.

Port A is UFP and source (5V - 20V@3A) only that connected to notebook.

Thanks in advance

    • PPx_CABLE will be need to supply VCONN the cable, and your dock application might need that to allow >3A sourcing.
    • Please refer Section:8.4.1 Boot of TPS65988's Datasheet for details on the default configurations.
