TPS65988DK: PD CTS – TEST.PD.PROT.ALL3.8 Get Revision Response.

Part Number: TPS65988DK

Hi,

After testing PD compliance, it looks like TPS65988DK cannot respond [Revision message] when it received Get Revision message.

Could you please help to comment if the behavior we saw is known or expected on TPS65988DK?

Is there a way to fix it and meet the PD CTS requirement?

This should be changed in the VIF to be Not Supported. If VIF was generated by our Application Customization Tool, then that is a bug that can be fixed via modifying the XML.

Hi Christodulos,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

We use TI988DK for implementing USB4/TBT4 UFP peripheral device supporting DRP.

According to the latest PD Spec R3.1 v1.8, Sink shall response Get_Revision Message, so I think the VIF on device side should not be changed to be Not Supported.

As for responding Get_Revision, I think our USB4 device shall transmit Revision Message based on the rquirement about Sink defined in the latest PD Spec R3.1 v1.8 spec.

Please .correct me if my understanding is not right.

The GUI tool is v6.3.1 and Configuration file version is 6.3.1. The Firmware version is F907.14.10.

Please download the 6.3.4 version to be sure you are using the latest. This will not fix this issue but would be good to do!

The F907.14.10 FW was meant for the CTS 1.4 v5 which is older CTS spec which introduced the test there.

I believe you can request a waiver within first year of introduction (limited to Nov. 11, 2023 in this case)

For now we will work on having this updated for the TPS65988DK by Nov. 11, 2023.

Could you please advise if the new update for responding Get Revision Message will be fixed by FW only or new version PD chip is required?
