BQ24295: Single-cell Li-Ion battery charging and discharging solution

Part Number: BQ24295

Hi team,

The customer would like to use the BQ24295 to design a single-cell Li-Ion battery for charging and discharging at an adjustable discharge voltage (5V-20V), with no current requirement. The master chip is stm32f103c8t6 which communicates with it via I2C to enable real-time display of power and alarm functions. May I know is there some schematics available for reference?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "adjustable discharge voltage", can you help to reword the requested specification? Are you referring to the allowable input voltage at VBUS or output voltage when the battery is discharging?

The BQ24295 is a single cell battery charger. When the battery discharges the max voltage will be that of the battery (in the range of 4.2V). The device can operate in boost mode, but maximum output voltage is 5.5V. Max allowable VBUS voltage is 6.2V as listed on page 1 of the datasheet.

May I know is there some schematics available for reference?

A schematic of the BQ24295EVM design can be found in the EVM User's Guide on TI.com and linked here bq24295EVM-549 (PWR549) User's Guide (Rev. B) (ti.com)

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
