TPS546D24S: connecting several devices on the same PMBus interface

Dear team,

Thales would like to use several TPS546D24S in parallel. Parallel doesn't mean in current sharing as the idea is to generate several output voltage rails.

Can several TPS546D24S share the same PMBus interface and can they program them independently? They would like to generate all their power sequencing without using an external sequencer like the UCD9090A.

If possible, how many TPS546D24S can they connect on the same PMBus?

Hi Pol,

This device has a configurable address, that can be selected from 32 unique PMBus addresses by using a resistor from ADRSEL to AGND.

You could control 32 devices independently as long as each device has a unique address.

See datasheet section 7.3.23 for more information.

Thanks for your feedback. They are also interested by the possibility to program a power sequence that would be control directly by the converters that would be coupled to each other.

Hi Pol,

What converters are you coupling together?

Are you talking about putting two converters in series? Like stepping down from 12V->3.3V .... and then 3.3V->0.8V?

You can program the TON_DELAY times of the devices so that you get a sequential startup.
