USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01: Connection failure with TPS25750EVM

Hi support team.

I'm trying to connect USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 and TPS25750EVM.

USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 is source(27W/9V) ,TPS25750 is sink.

After configuring each one and connecting, they start negotiating and establish once, but then repeat the negotiation.

The output on the source side also outputs 9V, but it is turned off immediately and started again.

Please refer to the attached document for details.

I also monitored the current on the source side, but the current over the current limit is not flowing.

Could you help me find out what is causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for providing the files. The Source PDOs include PP1 as 5V/3A and PP3 (PP_EXT1, per TRM) as 9V/3A. The USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 shows the PPHV power path as a potential sourcing path, but this does not appear consistent with the datasheet.

9.3.3 Power Paths

The TPS25750 has internal sourcing power paths: PP_5V and PP_CABLE. TPS25750D has a integrated bidirectional high voltage load switch for sinking power path: PPHV. TPS25750S has a high volatge gate driver for sink path control: PP_EXT. Each power path is described in detail in this section.

I will discuss this with the team but I do not believe the TPS25750 is the correct choice for sourcing if greater than 5V/3A.

This is correct. I am working to provide a workaround but we will have a part better suited for sourcing in the 3Q of this year.
