TPS65987D: the length of the stub of BC1.2 line

Genius 4220 points
Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi,

If we implement both BC1.2 charging function and USB2.0 data communication with using TPS65987D,
Is there any limitation of the length of stub showed with red line in the image below?

And when we only implement BC1.2 charging function with using TPS65987D,
Is there also any limitation of the length between C_USB_N/P pin of TPS65987D and USB_D+/-
of USB type-C receptacle?

Regards,

Go

  • Hi Go,

Looking into this and will provide feedback latest tomorrow.

  • Hi Go,

Apologies for the delay in response, please see excerpt from datasheet below regarding BC1.2 layout guidelines:

For the red line you highlighted in your block diagram, have it as short as possible to C_USB_P/N of the PD controller pins. We recommend having the PD controller near its connected Type-C port to reduce trace length from port to PD, below is an example of USB2 routing:

BC1.2 routing should follow standard USB2 rules for routing and length matchmaking.

    Thanks and Regards,
