TPS65983B: TPS65983B configuration/boot/debug

Hi TI,

I am using TPS65983 PD controller together with Thunderbolt controller JHL7440 for my prototype.

To make TPS65983 working properly, must we have boot code in external SPI flash connected to this PD controller?

Or, could TPS65983 work properly with default register setting if there is no SPI flash storing the boot code?

I am using Intel Thunderbolt 3 TABASCO CREEK REV1V1 schematic as reference.
