Hi Team,
Can you have a look at the following customer inquiry?
With the TPS54060, we experienced defective systems for which the static resistance between VIN and PH was low, looking like the internal FET switch was destroyed. What are the possible failure modes?
The design (typically converting 20..34 V to 3.3 V at low currents (mA-range)) was produced for several years, but only recent units showed a steep increase in defects. Those failed after random use time. As there is a variant TPS54060A of the device with raised ESD ratings, and the TPS54060 has rather low ratings, we considered ESD problems, and did extensive ESD tests with our system. However, we were not able to reproduce the above mentioned defect symptoms as seen in the field.
Are there known (use) cases for which the thermal protection and/or overcurrent protection does not work sufficiently? Do you expect this effect after ESD events? Are there known batches with changed behaviour?
Thank you,
Franz
