HI team,
TPS22995 is 3.8A load switch but it doesn't have current limit. Where does 3.8A come from?
Is it estimated as Rdson(max) * Iload * ΨJT < Thermal shutdown threshold?

Hayashi

Hi Hayashi-san,
The TPS22995 data sheet lists the Imax in Section 6.1, Absolute Maximum Ratings. Are you asking about the mechanism for this specific current limit/consequences of exceeding this current?
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Hayashi-san,
We specify the max current rating based on the max ambient temperature (125C) and the following equation:
(Tj-Ta)/RΘjA=I^2*Ron
This will allow the device to drive 3.8A without triggering the thermal shutdown temperature (170C typ).
Best Regards,
Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks! That is what I wanted to know. I forgot squared current. And I know the criterial of temperature is 125C with RΘjA.
