TPSF12C1-Q1: How to read the quick start calculator loop gain curve

Part Number: TPSF12C1-Q1

Hi team,

How to read from the quick start calculator loop gain curve whether the loop is stable?  any rule of thumb like buck IC phase margin requirement etc...

Thank you

Scarlett

  • Hi Scarlett,

The main consideration is to ensure the phase doesn't touch -180° when the gain is positive. This would be an incorrect gain margin, indicating instability, and can happen at the resonant frequencies.

Please send on your quickstart file for review. Also, here is the latest version of the quickstart calculator where I included parametric entry for nanocrystalline chokes (RL ladder network with three parallel RL circuits in series + a cap in parallel with everything).
