BQ79718-Q1: Daisy Chain Communication Timing

Part Number: BQ79718-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79606A-Q1

Hi Experts,

We are considering compensating the propagation delay of ADC_GO command transferred from the bridge IC to the pack and cell monitors.

  • How to calculate byte-to-byte delay? In "BQ79606A-Q1 Daisy Chain Communication Timing", it says that byte-to-byte delay is fixed by UART baud rate and the estimated delay for 1 Mbps is around 1.925us. Could you show me the formula? In addition, I notice in the datasheet of BQ79718 the byte-to-byte delay becomes 2.5us for 1Mbps. Could you please tell me why?
  • Is the re-clock time between cell monitors 4us? What about the re-clock time for the bridge IC and the base device?

I'd appreciate it if you could share me a picture of ADC start command frame like the picture below:

Thanks for support and best regards,

Jiahao

  • Hello,

Please see below for question one for BQ79718. There is no formula, it is the nature of the daisy chain protocol. Here is why there is a 2.5us gap between byte's

For question 2 the re-clock time is 4us between 718s and between 600 and 718.

    Regards,
    Chase
