BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1 CHEM ID not suitable and learning fail

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM

Hi

The customer use sony us18650ft Nominal capacity: 1100mAh Charge cut-off 3.65V Discharge cut-off 2.2V

, there is an existing ChemID already available. But they do the golden leaning fail.

They use the GPCCHEM tool to calculate the CHEM ID, the Best chemical ID max. deviation, % : 9.33.

The upload log data as below:

40902 (2).txt

Why is there a battery with the corresponding ID in the list, and the calculated GPCCHEM has a large error.

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

  • Hello Star,

Please share the .gg file as well.

With LFP chemistry, even small cell to cell variation can lead to high error in the OCV table.

If we have an exact match in the chem ID database you should be able to use that chem ID for the learning. Make sure when cycling you do the max range as specified by the manufacturer, not the application. After the learning cycle you can de-rate the terminate and charge voltages.

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Wyatt

    Thanks for your reply.

Attached the gg file for your reference.

    Please help check it.

    Thanks

  • Hello Star,

What test were they performing with the log attached with the .gg file? In the .gg file the update status shows 0x05 which means they have gotten a successful Qmax from learning cycle. In the log the SOC seems to be tracking fairly well, I did notice the DOD0 is always capped at 0 for full charge which indicates either their taper is very small or they are charging the battery higher than we did for the chem ID (which always follows the cell specification).

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
