BQ27Z746: SHA-256 Authentication / Secure Key

Part Number: BQ27Z746
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQKEYPROGRAMMER

Hi Team,

Learned from TRM that the Security key is stored in the Security memory. There are a few questions:

1. Is the Security memory Flash? Is it possible to modify the key multiple times?

2. After writing the Key to the Security memory, how to verify whether the writing is successful? Is it possible to read back the key in the Security memory?

Regards,

Hailiang

  • Hi Hailiang,

The only way to verify the key wrote successfully is to do an authentication flow, this is how we do it on our bqKeyProgrammer tool ,we do an authentication flow with an all 0 challenge. The key can not be read back due to security reasons and is only one time programable to avoid any tampering. The BQ27z746 does have 3 different key slots, so they can program multiple keys into the gauge if wanted.
