BQ27542EVM: Status read from chip with unconnected battery

Hi,

I am using BQ27542. If battery is not connected and If my hardware is working alternate power source then I am getting either 0 or 99 as battery capacity from the BQ27542 chip. What is expected from the chip if battery is unconnected?
