Hi Experts,
in the datasheet we do not specify a abs max rating for Vout > Vin conditions. is there a concern when this is the case? do we recommend protection against this condition?

Hi Simon,
Seeing as this is a CMOS device, yes we recommend protection for this case, such as placing a Schottky diode from OUT to IN, and there is a damage concern if VOUT is expected to go above VIN under the system design. generally anytime VOUT is expected to be 0.3V above VIN, protection is recommended unless called out in the datasheet.

Thanks John,
what about LP2951-50-Q1? do we give the same recommendation to place a diode for protection in this situation?
BR Simon
Hi Simon,
A PNP device does not contain inherent protection so yes, we would recommend a protection diode.

John
