BQ76952: Let TS2 keep low

Part Number: BQ76952

Hello Sir:

Our end customer wants to know if let TS2 pin has a high to low then keep low until device is entering shutdown mode.

Does it has any side effects?

Such as maybe will effect wake up or some thing else.

Please let us know your recommendations.

Thanks a lot.

  • Dear Statham,

I'm not sure if I entirely understand your question, but I'll try to answer it to the best of my understanding. Please correct me if it's not what you are asking. While in SHUTDOWN mode, TS2 will idle high with a weak pull up (~6Mohm). To exit SHUTDOWN, the pin must be pulled to GND, and then it wakes up. Once this occurs, TS2 will stay around 0V weakly. Once a SHUTDOWN command is sent, the device will pull up TS2 to 5V.

If TS2 is always pulled high, you won't be able to exit SHUTDOWN. However, if the pin is always shorted to GND, the device will never be able to enter SHUTDOWN and will always remain in either DEEPSLEEP, SLEEP, or NORMAL mode. Some designs do prefer to use this feature if they aren't using SHUTDOWN as it prevents any unwanted turn-offs.

If this doesn't answer your question, I'll be happy to provide a follow-up.

    Best,
    Asher Nederveld
