TPS2597: eFuse trips early

Part Number: TPS2597

We are using the TPS25974L as shown in the circuit below:

We are running 2A through the circuit and I increase that to 2.8A. The eFuse trips within 100uS after the increase in loading. It should trip after 2ms.

Any suggestions why the eFuse is tripping early?

  • Hi Rob,

Please share a waveform capturing instant when you change load. Please capture VIN,EN,IIN,VOUT,ITIMER. I assume you have set supply current limit greater than 2.8A.

Also what kind of load are you using?

  • Hi Kundal,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have the current limit of the supply set at 3.5A and I am using an electronic load (BK Precision 8500).

Here is a scope capture. Not what you asked for but what I had on hand. I will take a better scope capture and send that.

1 Dark blue = disregard - down stream DC-DC converter.

2 Light blue = efuse PG output

    3 Purple = efuse output

4 green = input current to efuse

  • Hi Rob,

    1. Is e-Load used in CC or CR mode? I will recommend using CR mode or a passive resistive load.

    2. Please share a waveform like below. Lets capture VIN also. Capture at instant when you switch load from below current limit to above current limit.

    3. From the waveform you shared looks like eFuse is not turning off because VOUT recovers. Looks like Load is turning off.
