Hello team,
We had a query about the connection from MUX to the Type C Connector. Since Type C has a standard pinout, is there a necessity to swap TX and RX pins in our design?

Hi Mayur,
Can you please clarify your question and send me your schematic?
Best,
Stanton
Hello Stanton, I have explained the query with help of pictorial representation in the attached pdf. I kindly request you to provide your feedback.
Hi Mayur,
Thank you for explaining in the pdf. Very helpful!
Scenario 1: If TX is connected to TX, RX is connected to RX, TX of host will be connected to TX at the connector as well. Is this okay? Yes, I have annotated the design with arrows to show the direction of TX (blue) and RX (yellow).
Scenario 2: Should TX and RX be swapped here? No, you have made connections correctly.

Stanton
Hello Stanton,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
For my understanding, I had few doubts:
1. Will TX & RX swap be taken care inside the laptop/PC to which our device is connected to? If this is not taken care, then eventually TX of our module will be connected to TX of laptop right?
2. Why TX and RX are swapped in eval kit schematics?
Hello Stanton,
I kindly request you to provide your feedback for the above query.
Hi Mayur,
As long as you are consistent with the directions of data, you can swap HD3SS3220 data TX and RX channels.
The important things to confirm for set up (source + mux + connector).
1. Connector TX must be output and connector RX must be input.
2. Source TX must be output and source RX must be input.
Best,
Stanton
Hello Stanton,
TX2P&N from connector is connected to RX2P&N from the HD3SS3220. It is not swapped at both places, and is swapped only at IC side.
Please find the snippet from eval board schematic.
