UC3909 Lead Acid Charger in Boost Configuration

Does the UC3909 support boost configuration? If not do we have any Lead Acid Battery Charger that do?

Like most of the TI Unitrode ICs, this is a controller. So, it can theoretically implement any topology.

This app note describes using it in an offline configuration, driving a flyback. http://focus.ti.com/lit/an/slua058/slua058.pdf

I suggest they contact a design services group--either the TI design services group in your region or a 3rd-party group.

Another option is to first boost the input high enough to use a buck charger, such as the bq2031 or bq24450.
