UCC2897: Requirement of suggestion on transformer design for IC UCC2897

Hello Ti Team,

I need your suggestion on Transformer design for IC Ucc2897.

My transformer design is as follows

Electrical Specifications 

Core E 25/13/7

Material N87

Air Gap 0.25mm

Winding sequence Bias, N1, N2

Inductance Ls at 100khz, 100mV 11.78uH

With this specs we have checked thermal at 70 deg ambient & we observed 130 deg temperature on transformer. We are expecting 110 deg temperature at 70 deg ambient.

Kindly suggest the solution.

    Hi,

    Please estimate your transformer core losses and copper losses first, by the transformer designer or the vendor. If core losses too high then you may need to enlarge the cost size, or use a different material core with less core losses. If copper losses high, then consider to increase the wire size, if which requires more winding window you would also need change your core to one with proper winding window
