I found some information here in the forum that got me a bit closer, but not close enough. Therefore, my question:
The example circuit for a voltage inverter in the MC34063A datasheet shows 5-6V input voltage and -12V, 100mA output.
I tried to find out why the input voltage range in this example is so limited, and why the output current is also very small with just 100mA. Is this just an unlucky choice of values for the example, or is there a real reason why the circuit only works in that input voltage range and with such a small output current? Unfortunately, the IC is not available in WEBENCH.
My goal: Either inverting 12V into -12V or generating -12V from a 5V source, with 500mA @ -12V output current. I would prefer to use 12V as input voltage rather than 5V, due to given circumstances.
Any thoughts?
