Hi Zhixia,
The automotive versions of these devices are rated as "Functional Safety Quality-Managed".
However, the updated version to this device is the UCC2155X. It will have several robustness improvements to the UCC21530 and will be lower cost.
Best regards,
Sean
Hi,Sean
Are UCC21540 and UCC21530 driver chips Class II or Class III in functional safety?
Thanks,
Zhixia Bai
Hi Zhixia,
Those terms are used to guarantee a design's robustness at a system-level. An individual device can be used in a Class II or III functional safety design, but it must be used correctly for the system to meet either of those requirements.
We can only categorize an individual device as 'Compliant', 'Quality-Managed', or 'capable', which indicates the number of certifications that have been completed for an individual part. Compliant indicates the highest amount of testing, quality-managed means that several test have been run and additional testing is available upon request, and capable means that few or no functional safety tests have yet been run on the device.
