BQ76952: The temperature test range and error

Part Number: BQ76952

The customer want to test the temperature from -40℃ to 125℃, and the error are within 3℃。

1. Whether BQ76952 support to measure temperature from -40℃ to 125℃?

2. In the whole temperature range, whether we can guarantee 3℃ error in the full temperature range after calibration?

  • Hi Fabio,

    Going through your questions:

    1. Whether BQ76952 support to measure temperature from -40℃ to 125℃?

The BQ76952's recommended operating temperature is from -40°C to 85°C, beyond that TI cannot guarantee the performance of the device.

    2. In the whole temperature range, whether we can guarantee 3℃ error in the full temperature range after calibration?

See Figure 16-4: Thermistor Temperature Error of the datasheetThe results may differ based on the customer's thermistor.

    I hope this helps!

  • I guess this is the error before calibration, is it right?

Can temperature calibration help improve the performance in the below?

  • Hi Fabio,

I believe that these measurements were taken with all default settings, so the accuracy should be able to be improved by taking the ADC0 value and offset at room temperature and loading those values into the appropriate data memory locations.

  • Hi Fabio,

Allow me to provide additional clarification to my initial answer.

The BQ76952 can measure 125°C from an external thermistor. As long as the IC temperature remains within the -40~85°C range, then there is no issue with measuring external temperatures from -40 to 125°C.

    I apologize for any confusion.
