UCC28180: ICOMP value is saturating to 6V in Excel tool with a warning "Decrease Rsense"

Part Number: UCC28180

Hello,UCC28180_ACDC_REV1_Values.xls

We are designing a PFC rectifier front end for a 550W LLC converter. The required input and load specifications are entered in the attached UCC28180 design calculator tool.

We are getting a error message "Decrease Rsense" and ICOMP value is saturated at 6V.

Please let us know is UCC28180 suitable for our application. Why Rsense needs to be decreased below recommended value? what is the limiting factor which resulting in saturated ICOMP?

Thanks & Regards,

Chethan K S

  • Hello Chethan,

You set your Vacin, min = 323V and Vacin, max = 550V. Is this correct? This is a high voltage range and typically the UCC28180 is used for the universal AC input 90V - 265V.

  • Hello Jonathan Wong,

Yes. The nominal input voltage is 480Vac and the input voltage range is 323Vac to 550Vac.

Is UCC28180 suitable for our application? Is there any limitation?

Please suggest PFC controller best suitable for our application.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hello Chethan,

The UCC28180 controller is suitable for your Vin application.

It seems that you have already submitted an issue with your local FAE in Bangalore. Please continue the support with your FAE as your issue will be solved quicker through your FAE than through E2E. The Rsense error is being worked on.

    Regards,
