Hi, Sir

we have a problem about peak power mode when using BQ25710.

we set REG0x3F (6000):4800mA,

REG0x33 (0AFC): Ilimit2 =110%*Ilimit1= 1.1*4800=5280mA, ICRIT =110%* Ilimit2=5808mA,

and as REG0x31(323A) settled , we enable peakpower mode , TOVLD 1ms, Tmax 20ms.

So, when input current over 4.8A , it should apply to Ilimit2 5.2A for 1ms , then input current drop back to 4.8A , and battery turn to discharge at the same time till Tmax finish, right ?

But the test waveform show it always keep Ilimit2 31ms not 1ms , and battery discharger 31ms not 29ms (Tmax-TVOLD), would you please help to check it?

(ps: the real current value is 0.2A lower than setting value )

Hi Wenlei,

What are your operating conditions? What do you have VBUS and VBAT set to and what is the load current on VSYS?

VBUS is 20V , VBAT is depend on battery (9V~13.2V) , VSYS set 9.2V.

The load on VSYS is transient from 11A to 2A , high load time 30ms , light load time 20ms .

Hi Wenlei,

From your oscilloscope capture and your registers, it doesn't look like you are in peak power mode, it looks like you are just going into supplement mode during the high load time, then charging during the light load time.

Below are two examples of the device entering peak power mode. I would suggest trying to disable PKPWR_VSYS.

For the former question , we found the peak power mode can work well when we set 0x33H ILIM2_VTH at other percentage except 110% , such as 200% or 130%.

would you please help to check is it the same at your side ? if set ILIM2=110% *IDPM , the peak power mode can't work.

Hello Wenlei,

I have checked this issue in the lab. Your observation is correct. ILIM2 at 110% of IDPM does not work properly. We will change the datasheet accordingly.
