TPS50601A-SP: TPS50601A-SP Sync Simulation unstable?

Part Number: TPS50601A-SP

Hi,

One of the engineers I am working with has two TPS50601A based POLs on his card.  One is 5 to 1.5V and the other is 5 to 3.3V.  He tried to simulate these two POLs using transient models for both TPS50601As.  He used the sync pin to sync the two TPS50\601A chips together.  He claims that the simulation went unstable.  Can you tell me, if this makes sense in terms of the models used?  I have a hard time believing that these two TPS50601A can't be sync without going unstable, so my guess is it has something to do with the models within the simulation, but before I concluded that I would like your input.

Thanks!

Susan

  • Hi Susan,

When this engineer says the simulation went unstable, are they saying the stability of the circuit was not good or that the simulator was having convergence problems or generally producing odd results? Like you mention, I would not expect the circuit to become unstable simply because the SYNC feature is used since this is a feature the device is specifically designed for.

If they need help troubleshooting their simulation, then they will need to share their project files so we can see their exact schematic and simulation settings.

    Thanks,

    Sarah
