BQ79656-Q1: Current sensing issue

Dear Team,

While measuring the current via registers MAIN_CURRENT_HI & MAIN_CURRENT_LO, without connecting any load or charging CURRENT_LO register is showing some random values frequently.

Is there any configuration for registers to be changed to configure those two registers.

Hello,

This is expected behavior. If there is no load and the current sense pins are left floating, it will be "garbage" data. Please connect a load and measure the current.

Hi Chase,

I'm getting values between 2 and 12 in the MAIN_CURRENT_LO register, how can I differentiate if it is actual current or the garbage if the load is less than 2A.

Hello,

If a load is connected you will be measuring the actual current. ensure to multiply by the conversion factor in the datasheet. The Current sense ADC has mA accuracy
