Hi Steel,

For protectors, I recommend looking at the BQ2962 or the BQ7718. If you'd like current protections included in the secondary protector, then you may also look at the BQ77915.

Regarding on the charger recommendation, what is the input voltage here? Do you plan to use the TS function on the gauge or charger? If you use the battery temperature monitoring for gauge, then I believe gauge will control the TMP charging profile.

   Just to clarify that there are two products, gas gauge and proctection IC are used in battery pack, charge ic is used in charger.

   the input voltage from AC-DC power supply is 18V/3.33A. we plan only to use a charge IC, no MCU in charger product.

  i saw that the communication interface for bq40z60 is SMBUS V2.0, if the host is SMBUS V1.1, can it work well?

  is SMBUS v2.0 compatiable with v1.1?

  in the 1st page of bq40z60, it is written that the SMBUS is v2.0, but in section 8.1 and 6.3.10, it is written v1.1, can you clarify which verison it is?

   we want the charger IC with SMBUS interface to communicate with the battery contains suggested Gauge BQ40Z50/BQ40Z60,

   but for BQ24616,it doesn't have SMBUS interface, can you help to recommand another one?

bq40z50 is a gauge. bq40z60 is a battery manager that includes the gauge. The selection would depend on whether you want to leverage the additional features of bq40z60 (assuming all bq40z60 parameters meet your requirements)

Yes, this device need host to set the configuration for the charging operation. Unfortunately, we do not have the SW code for the configuration.

    If the pack wants to communicate with a charger, and the charger also has a TI charge IC, which is the better gauge IC bwtween bq40z50 and bq40z60?

    Is a secondary protection such as bq2947 needed if the gas IC is bq40z50 or bq40z60?
