TPS55288-Q1: (About Worst Case Circuit Analysis Testbench) Question about temperature sweep simulation for TPS55288-Q1

Part Number: TPS55288-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS55288

Glad to see you,

I'm considering setting up a WCCA simulation environment using the Spice model of TPS55288-Q1 supported by TI website.

First of all, I'm checking whether the temperature condition can be changed.
I'm making simulation test bench for assuming Worst case in the operating temperature of TPS55288-Q1 part.
Convergence error is being identified under the conditions of Temp=30.
I would like to ask TI member to check if temperature sweep is possible using TPS55288-Q1 spice model. (Especially for -40 to 125 celcius)

Thank you for your support

  • Hi Donghyun,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I have not done the temperature sweep before. May I know which spec versus temp do you want to know for this device?

    BRs,

    Bryce

  • Nice to meet you Bryce.
I have a plan to set-up the WCCA Testbench for TPS55288-Q1.

    I often check these points
    1. Inductor voltgae / current
    2. Current sense resistor voltage / current
    3. COMP node for frequency compensation (with changing passive component values)

I will try set tolerance for all passive components in my circuit for WCCA.
And i have a plan to have Monte carlo simulation or Temperatuer sweep for WCCA.

    Before doing this,
i tried to simulate the referecne pspice circuit whether the reference can do temp sweep or not.

Thank you for your quick response.

    BR

  • Hi Donghyun,

    Thanks for feedback.

    1. May I know which project you are considering this device in? What is the application and any other project details e.g. volume, schedule etc?

    2. Do you want to check the inductor current peak value as for inductor voltage / current?

    3. As for current sense resistor, do you mean output current function? Do you care about the dc accuracy?

    4. As for the COMP node, do you want to check the loop compensation?

    5. What about using Simplis model for the Monte Carlo simulation?

    BRs,

    Bryce

  • Hi Bryce.

    I reponse to your questions

    1. I am really sorry because it is difficult to answer.
( For WCCA, I have a plan to set-up WCCA bench for a month)

    2. Yes

    3. Yes, i will check the simulation results for dc output node (ex. voltage overshoot, voltage undershoot, voltage value)

    4. Yes, I'm going to simulate the several cases to find the optimal value for loop compensation.

    5. At the SIMPLIS, is it possible to adjust the pspice model uploaded at TI web site?

    Thank you
    BR,

    Donghyun Seong

  • Hi Donghyun,

    Thanks for the feedback.

You can do the simulation on PSpice for typical analysis, but I think the model doesn't consider the temp variation.

And for Monte Carlo analysis, I think the Simplis is easier to use than PSpice. But the Simplis model is not released yet, we need some time to do the correlation first.

    BRs,

    Bryce

  • Hi Bryce
    Thank you for your feedback

    1. Is there a guideline to make the TPS55288-Q1 immune to temperature simulation? This is because that i will simulate the TPS55288-Q1 Application circuit for worst case analysis by adjusting temp coefficients of passive components(R, L, C) except for TPS55288-Q1.

I'm going to change the R,L,C components from ideal to real model including tolerance, temperature coefficient.

    2. I heard that the SIMPLIS is more faster than Pspice simulation. So i undertand that you propose the SIMPLIS simulation. Thank you for your suggestion. Does the TI team have a plan to set-up SIMPLIS test bench for TPS55288-Q1? I'm really looking forward to it.

    BRs,
    Donghyun Seong

  • Hi Donghyun,

    1. May I know how do you set the temp coefficients of the components? So I can check if the internal components of TPS55288 model are related to the temperature.

    2. Yes, we are doing the Simplis model for Simplis, but I don't know if Simplis can do the temperature simulation or you can also adjust the temp coefficients of the passive components.

    BRs,

    Bryce

  • Hi Bryce Thank you for your support.

1.The property editor option of component can be adjusted by changing items (such as TC1, TC2, Tolerance, or PSpiceTemplate)

    2. I tested it yesterday by using SIMPLIS demo ver, and i saw that the temperature sweep & TC variables can be adjusted.

  • Hi Donghyun,

Thanks for feedback, very interesting, I have not used that before, just curious, can you show me the simulation file above how to set the Tc and how to get the simulation results?

Do you have a target date for the simulation file, because we have not finished the Simplis model yet.

    BRs,

    Bryce
