BQ25730: BQ25730 power path and Altium schematics

Part Number: BQ25730
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, BQ25731, PMP41013, USB2ANY,

Hi,

Is it possible to get a copy of the Altium schematic please?

I would like to use this chip with the TPS25750D in order to have a 100W USB C battery charger with load control e.g. the USB C power supply powers load (42W) and the rest of power charges the battery.(21W). If either the power supply or the battery are insufficient, they can support each other.

The system should always run with the available power source e.g. battery only or charger only if battery is removed or both.

I would need the TPS25750 to program the I2C settings of the BQ25730. How do I get it to do this. Normally the TPS25750 is programmed with a web GUI. I do not have a microcontroller in this system.

  • Hi Ahmad,

Luckily, we have a reference design very close to your application. Simply replace BQ25731 with BQ25730. The CAD files are in the below folder.

  • Hi,

How to I get the registers from the BQ25730 to be programmed by the TPS25750?

I want to get a copy of all the required registers using the USB2ANY interface on the BQ25730, then I need the TPS25750 to automatically load them from flash.

The TPS25750  interface does not let me put a 2cell configuration. Also I have set the charging current to 2.56A, but I would like the SYS current to go up to 5.3A, but the battery can be charged at 0.5C and can deliver 1C of current. How do I configure these?

  • Hi Ahmad,

This needs some changes on the TPS25750 GUI. Could you submit your questions using TPS25750 part number?

BQ25730 only needs charge current setting, no discharge current setting. You may need to set the input current limit to avoid overloading the adapter.

I would suggest you ordering a BQ25730EVM and trying the battery charger independently first.
