TPS53679: Questions of TPS53679

Part Number: TPS53679
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53676

Dear Team,

1. When the pin11 and pin12 input current monitoring function is used, is this connection correct? At present, we use four 1moh sampling resistors in parallel for sampling. Do we need to match this parameter in CODE? Where does it match? Is there any reference design specification for this application and send it to us for reference?

2. At present, we use AKIP and BSKIP to connect to the EN pin of DRMOS to enable DRMOS on the board. What is the function of this connection? In the past, the EN of DRMOS was directly connected to the VDD pin of DRMOS, which connection method would you recommend?

 3. Does TPS53679 support AVS voltage regulation? The LOOPA load chip in our schematic diagram needs AVS voltage regulation. Please help to confirm whether this design in our schematic can realize voltage regulation. Thank you!

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

    1. You set the IIN Shunt parameter in the GUI, and select sensed IIN so the controller pays attention to it.

    2. The SKIP connection is used in DCM operation. If using exclusively FCCM mode, then the SKIP connection is not needed. We recommend connecting the SKIP because it allows the controller/gui to manage DCM vs FCCM operation.

    3. With correctly set resistor & config values, this should be possible, but the VOUT reported over PMBus/GUI will be incorrect.

    Thanks,

    Travis

  • Hi Travis,

    We appreciated your great support.

About above question: DO we have any user guide for how to set up the AVS voltage regulation?

    Thanks a lot.

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

No, we do not. The recommended way to implement AVS is to use AVSBus & a controller that supports it (such as TPS53676) for non-intel AVS.

    Thanks,

    Travis
