Team,
Customers have interest in our TPS74501PDRVR, but want to know Power Dissipation (Pd), Rated Voltage and Rated Current, since they find it hard to get the answer via datasheet. Can you help to advise? Thanks.

Hi Yu-Chen,
The maximum power dissipation (Pd) will depend on the customer's ambient temperature (Ta) and the thermal dissipation of their PCB layout (Rja), such that the LDO junction temp (Tj) equals 125C. The equation to calculate this is Pd=(Tj-Ta)/Rja if we assume Rja is the same as the JEDEC High-K thermal dissipation listed in the datasheet then the equation simplifies to Pd=(125-Ta)/80.3.
So we don't spec maximum power dissipation in order to give customers the most flexibility based on their condition.
We also have an App Note which shows how the thermal dissipation (Rja) can be affected by board layout and it shows that with an optimized PCB layout the θja listed in our datasheets can be reduced by 35%-55%.https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slvae85/slvae85.pdf
The nominal rated current is 1A and the rated input voltage is 6V. There is a current limit and abs max voltage which are higher, but those are to protect against exceeding the rated current and voltage.
