Part Number: TPS65987D

Questions
(1)

8.3.5 Dead Battery Operation

8.3.5.1 Dead Battery Advertisement

The TPS65987D supports booting from no-battery or dead-battery conditions by receiving power from VBUS.

Does "booting from no-battery or dead-battery conditions" refer to the TPS65987D without the "VIN_3V3" input?
Or do you mean that the system (host side) that implements the TPS65987D does not have a power supply to charge the external device?

Questions(2)

8.4 Device Functional Modes

8.4.1 Boot

At initial power on the device goes through a boot routine. This routine is responsible for initializing device register values and loading device patch and configuration bundles. The device's functional behavior after boot can be configured through the use of pin straps on the SPI_POCI and ADCIN1 pins as shown in Table 8-5.

In our system, if "The TPS65987D do not load any ROM patch and-or configuration from flash memory during the boot sequence."
Will the state of TPS65987D after “a boot routine” be as described in Table 8-5?
  • Hi

Does "booting from no-battery or dead-battery conditions" refer to the TPS65987D without the "VIN_3V3" input? Or do you mean that the system (host side) that implements the TPS65987D does not have a power supply to charge the external device?

Dead battery condition means that there are no system side power and VIN_3V3 usually comes from system side. Under this condition we cannot source power because there are no system side power.

In our system, if "The TPS65987D do not load any ROM patch and-or configuration from flash memory during the boot sequence." Will the state of TPS65987D after “a boot routine” be as described in Table 8-5?

Yes that is correct. Table 8-6 and 8-7 have more detailed description of the states mentioned in Table 8-5.
