TPS62840: TPS62841: How to avoid using the discharge function

Hi,

Can I set the VOS pin to Open to avoid using the discharge function? Customer don't want the discharge function, so please let me know if there is another way. Also, customer is looking for an IC that is efficient when Vin=3.3 V, Vout=1.1 V, Iout=10uA, so I think TPS62841 only.

Hi Nishie,

The VOS pin needs to be connected for the control loop to work. So this won't be an option.

TPS6284x is most suited for high efficiency at low loads.

What is the reason that the customer doesn't want output discharge? One option would be to have 2 output caps and a load switch between them. The load switch can be disconnected before the TPS62840/1 is disabled. That way you could still keep the charge on the output cap close to the load.

Hi Nishie,

TPS628600 is another alternative. The output discharge can be deactivated via I2C. Please refer to table 8-6 in the datasheet https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps62860.pdf
