BQ25731: Is there any way to decrease the protection time when chip works in OTG mode?

I have done more test in BQ25731EVM, Customer wants to decrease the rush current in inductor actually. I have try to set different current limit, Gain of IADCP, and so on. One efficiency way is to increase the switching frequency. Is there another way to do it in software? (The blue line is the inductor current. The main task is to decrease the peak value.)

My bad. This is a short circuit test.

Customer wants to know when the chip starts from short circuit to trigger protection.

What is the entire underlying protection process like for the BQ25731 chip?
From the Sense detection to the internal analog circuit to the control of the wave emission strategy, how many PWM cycles need to protect?
