Hi,

We assemble this component in a new design that we have made in our company.

Due to our system working conditions, we need to mount a heatsink on top of the chip.

It is possible to mount (using thermal paste or a thermal pad) a heatsink on top of the converter:



We are concerned with the case of the component and whether its actual junction temperature in this case.

Thank you for using E2E,

We have some customers (optical modules) are using a thermal pad, but TI did not evaluate this. The customer needs to handle the risk on their own.

For your information, TPSM828511 (new device will be released soon) uses an inductor which does not have electrical contacts on the top. They might not need the heat sink at all…
