BQ24296M: PMIC decoupling capacitance value

Part Number: BQ24296M

Hi.

The BQ24296M documentation declares an 8.2 uF decoupling capacitor for the PMID pin:

But it's hard to understand - is it the effective capacitance (after DC bias and other deratings) or the component value?

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out via E2E. The 8.2 uF value capacitor is the minimum recommended capacitance to place at PMID pin. This recommendation is the component value, you do not need to factor in derating. As an example on our BQ24296MEVM board we connect a 10 uF capacitor at PMID pin.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
