TLC5948A: Question about tD6.

Part Number: TLC5948A

Hello guys,

One of  my customers is considering using TLC5948A for their new products.
At this moment, they have the following question.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q.
TLC5948A datasheet says that tD6 measurement conditions are the follow.
"LAT↑ to power-save mode by writing data for OUTn off with BLANK = 1 and PSMODE = 110" on page 6.
When is BLANK condition in this condition is changed to "0" (BLANK=0), can tD6 be applied to the condition?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

I am not sure if the device state is the same between BLANK=0 and 1, so I suggest follow the conditions describe on the datasheet. Could you please tell me why customers care about this parameter and the EE of their new products?

    BR, Jared

  • Hi Jared,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I understood that TI didn't have any propagation delay data in case of BLANK = "0" condition.
The customer wanted to know the data because they are going to control TLC5948A with auto repeat mode and auto data refresh mode.
In this case, they can keep BLANK "0". BLANK bit is not needed to change like "0" -> "1" -> "0".

Their application is a LED display panel.

Thank you very much again and best regards,
    Kazuya.
