BQ25606: BQ25606 PG, STAT pin damage

The customer design with BQ25606, after repeated charging and discharging, plug in the USB again.

The USB voltage is normal at 5V, the PG pin does not go low (there is a pull-up power supply, the SYS pin is used), and the STAT pin flashes randomly (the battery is fully borrowed).

The pins of PG and STAT pin is damaged. Suspected to be caused by ESD.

Will adding ESD diodes or filter capacitors to the PG and STAT pins affect the operation of the power chip BQ25606?

It's rare to damage the PG and STAT pins. What's the pull-up voltage for the two pins?
