BQ76952: BQ76952 communication time calculation

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79652-Q1

Can you please share me the communication time calculation excel for the IC.

If I input number of stack device, number of registers in command or response it should give me an approximate communication time.

Also guide me on register size used for I2C pull up. What should be the value I am facing signal integrity issue. In data sheet in reference table it 1.5k but in recommended schematic its 10k.

please suggest the better value.

Regards,

Kish

  • Hi Kish,

I just want to double check; did you mean the BQ79652-Q1 instead of BQ76952?

  • Hi Kish,

We don't have an excel for calculating the communication time on the BQ76952. The BQ76952 does not have daisy chained communication either, so the timing is not affected by a stacked configuration. Section 2 of the BQ769x2 Software Development Guide discusses command timings, and Table 9-2 of the TRM lists the approximate processing time of most of the available commands and subcommands.

Picking the value of the I2C pullup resistor is a balance between power consumption and speed. A smaller resistor will result in a reduced rise time on the signal and thus a greater signal speed, however it will also increase the current consumption of the bus. A greater resistor will draw less power, but the rise time will be greater, and thus be slower. 10kOhms is a good place to start, and if the signal is not stable enough, then reducing the value of the resistor will improve the signal at an added power cost.
