TPS546D24A: AVIN Pin Current Draw

Part Number: TPS546D24A

Hello,

How much does a TPS546D24A draw a current from its AVIN pin when the converter is in switching operation? I'd like to have a plot of the AVIN pin current over switching frequencies if it's available. If not, could you provide me with the IAVIN value under the following conditions?

  • Input voltage: 12 V
  • Switching frequency: 650 kHz
  • Output voltage: 0.4 V to 0.7 V
  • Output current: 28 A

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Shinichi,

I don't have a I_AVIN vs. Freq plot. The datasheet lists the I_AVIN current as 12.5-17mA (non-switching condition).

The current draw will be higher during switching because AVIN supplies an LDO to VDD5 which recharges the gate driver bias circuitry.

The total current draw from AVIN typically follows the equation (max): 22mA + 4mA/100kHz.

The AVIN current would also be different if you supplied VDD5 externally. How is the VDD5 configured for your requested condition?

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks,

    Joseph

  • For the application condition listed, the maximum AVIN current would be 48mA if VDD5 is internally generated by the AVIN to VDD5 LDO.

For alternate switching frequencies, see the equation provided.
