TPS65987D: Power management forum

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987

Hi,

We have a custom board in which we used the TPS65987D with DRP configuration. In the custom board, VBUS1 to PPHV1 switch is enable when tablet is connected at VBUS1. The problem is that the PPHV2 to VBUS2 internal Mosfet is not enabled when external power supply is connected at PPHV2.

Looking forward hearing the solution for this.

Thanks, and regards,

Vandit

  • Hi Vandit,

When are you expecting the Mosfet to be enabled? Are you connecting a USB-C PD sink to the TPS65987D USB-C connector and do you see correct PD negotiation? Do you have a PD log that you can share of this behavior?

Do you have a .pjt file from the TPS65987 Application Customization Tool that you are using with your custom board?

If yes, please share it and also check:

    • Global System Configuration (0x27) register and make sure that PP2 is configured to Source Only
    • Transmit Source Capabilities (0x32) and make sure that the "Switch Source" field of each source PDO is set to PP2

    Thanks,

    Chris
