TPSM41625: Stacked Units Not the Same Temperature

Part Number: TPSM41625

I have two TPSM41625MOVR devices in stacked mode - a Primary and Secondary. I am fortunate enough to have a thermal camera to observe the two units. ( - And make sure I don't burn myself. )  The primary operates at about 58*C, the secondary at 50*C. The load is 0.90V at 25 Amps. Would this temperature differential be considered normal. I feel if both units are sharing the load they should be approximately the same temperature. How can I tell if the secondary unit is really operating properly?

I understand there may be reasons they would be different - but there is no noticeable difference in the layout of the two units. I expect few degrees, but not 8.

  • Hello Cary,

ISHARE is +/-15% Accurate, the two devices may see difference in current sharing to deliver 25A.

The PCB differences between the two devices may contribute to thermal difference as well.

is there any way you can check how current each device is delivering to the load?

    Thanks!

    Tahar
