TPS54623: DESIGN REVIEW

Part Number: TPS54623

Hi,

We are using TPS54623RHLR regulator for step down conversions. Please find the below designs. Kindly review and share the feedback.

1. 12V to 5V conversion with current rating of 3.5A, soft start time of 3.915ms, and switching frequency of 840KHz.

2. 12V to 1.5V conversion with current rating of 4.5A, soft start time of 3.915ms, and switching frequency of 491.38KHz.

3.12V to 1.8V conversion with current rating of 5.5A, soft start time of 3.915ms, and switching frequency of 989.972KHz.

Thanks

  • Hi Sathya,

Rails 5Vout and 1.5Vout look good.

My only comment is for 1.8Vout rail FSW:

    - They may need to reduce FSW as it's right on the boundary area for allowable FSW based on Minimum on-time (max) = 145ns. Based on my calculations using Vin(max)=13V, the max allowable FSW is about 868-955kHz. Currently the notes mentioned 989.972kHz however the RT=47.5k-ohm gives a FSW=1022kHz. If left as is, this can cause the device to hit min on-time at max vin and light loads, resulting in pulse skipping. Recommend increasing RT to 57.6k-ohm to output FSW=848khz.

    Regards,

    Eileen
