LM5146-Q1: High voltage caution

Part Number: LM5146-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5146,

I have design question.

I design dcdc with lm5146 input can go up to 80v

Can You guide me to any standard about how I should design board and what to implement for user safety against 80V parts on the board.

I have Your evaluation LM5146-Q1-EVM12V and I see only silk screen caution.

Maybe I should implement also something else?

  • Hi Stas,

The high voltage nodes, VIN, SW, CBOOT and HO, should not have expose copper or "accessible risk".

Note how the VIN connection requires screw terminals, to minimize risk of touching or shorting.

Also in the layout, clearance rules for HV nodes to have increased clearance would be a good idea.

    Hope this helps,
