LM74502Q1EVM: Implementing LM74502Q1 for 5V @ 2A input

Hi team!

I looking to use LM74502Q1 for a 5V @ 2A input, with over voltage protection of 5.5V, under voltage of 4.5 and reverse polarity.

My first question: Which part is more suited for this application, LM74502-Q1 or LM74502H-Q1?

My second question: Can I use LM74502Q1EVM to try this application by changing the resistors on it by the following formula:

Can you let us know if you need automotive rated parts ?

Please have a look at LM73100 and LM74202-Q1 devices. These devices have the FET integrated along with the controller.

It looks like the LM73100 is a great alternative for LM74502Q1, but still my second question is relevant here, I want to order the EVM first and change the resistors on it by the following formula:

Hi Moral,

Yes, you can make the changes on EVM OV resistor ladder to adjust the OV threshold.

Hi Moral,

If accurate overcurrent protection is required , you can consider using LM74900-Q1. This device requires an external sense resistor for accurate overcurrent protection.

The LM74912-Q1 can be used for applications where precise current sensing is not required, but some level of fault protection is needed. LM74912-Q1 uses FET VDS based sensing for overcurrent protection.

I tried to use the LM74900-Q1 design calculator and I'm getting this error:

Its hard to understand why its turning red..

Can you tell If it will be alright?

Hi Moral,

The design calculator turns the colour of the cell to red when

Resulting OVLO Rising Threshold > Desired OVLO Threshold
Resulting UVLO Falling Threshold < Desired UVLO Threshold

This colour change is just to inform the user using the tool and is not really an error. In case you are okay with the resulting thresholds, you can ignore the change in coulur of the cells.
