Hi,

We are using this part(TPS54331DDA) in our design to convert 12V to 5V. Attached the screenshot for your reference.
Can we use 12V to enable the IC, if not can you suggest a drop-in-replacement whose enable pin supports 12V.

Hello Kumar,

TPS54331 EN-pin ABS voltage is 6V, cannot directly connect to 12V Vin.

Other P2P parts like tps54332/tps54531 also same 6V ABS.

Can you change the layout?

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the boards have been fabricated and ready for assembly.. Do you have any suggestion to solve this issue other than re-layout?

Hello Kumar,

Can you cut the trace? Float EN-pin could enable the device.

Hi I am Nandha's collegue, Vijetha. Just extention to his question, what will hapen if EN pin is connected to 12V

We received the assembled boards and we are currently testing by manually floating the EN pin. But we were thinking to experiment in 1 board by connecting EN to 12V as per our design. Will it cause major damage or its going to be a reliability issue in future?

Hello Vijetha,

We do not suggest to let devices work under over absolute voltage condition, device normal operation cannot be ensured.
