BQ24040: Battery charger IC that can request 500 mA from USB

The BQ24040 has many of the features you are looking for.  Using ISET2 it can be configured for a 100mA or 500mA input current.

EVMs for the unit are available for evaluation.

Are you sure the BQ24042 can draw more than 100 mA while charging a battery from a USB wall charger? All datasheets of similar products from the competition says that they can draw 500 mA, 1A, etc., but they never specify if it can handle the USB enumeration and draw more than 100 mA from a USB charger.

The BQ24042 input current can be limited to 100mA, 500mA or ISET by the ISET2 pin configuration.  But your MCU would need to change setting, but design does not have MCU.  Sorry this one is not a good fit.  Let me see if another would work.
