I am designing an Electronic load, this electronic load would offer constant current, constant voltage and constant power absorption from a power supply/battery pack/DC-DC converter. Our intended controller would ideally control current or power over I2C from a host controller. For example we are designing a source with constant current/constant voltage capability using TPS55288 (TI) IC which can do constant current/constant voltage Buck-Boost.
1) Can you suggest if there are any ICs in TI's catalogue to achieve this functionality for electronic load (with I2C programmable current and Power) ?
2) If not I2C controllable IC, are there any ICs which can do CC/CP load discharge using programmable reference with digital potentiometers ?
3) If not can you suggest any good reference material to build an electronic load using Off-the-shelf components like Op-Amps and MOSFETs without an MCU but programmable CC/CP limit ?
