LM323-N: LM323KSTEEL vs LM323KSTEEL/NOPB terminal finish

Part Number: LM323-N

I saw in a previous thread that LM323KSTEEL has SnPb solder dip lead finish whereas LM323KSTEEL/NOPB has Au plated lead finish. Can you please provide the Au plating thickness (in microns) of the NOPB part? Is the Au applied over Nickel?

  • Hi Jasmine,

Thank you for asking this question.

I looked through our documentation and it terms of the wire bond; it is aluminum with a diameter of 101.6 microns and has a plated lead finish with SNAGCU.

In terms of Mount, this is made from Au and is 50.8 microns thick. The metallization of the die is done in Aluminum.

Hope this helps answer your question.

    Thank you,

    Josh Nachassi

  • Hi Josh,

So that internal wire bond has a plated lead finish of SNAGCU?

I am more concerned about the outer layer finish of the pins that get soldered onto a CCA board. Would that be the 50.8 microns thick Au material that you mentioned?

    Thanks,

    Jasmine

  • Hi Jasmine,

The outer layer finish is done in SNAGCU, this is what is soldered to the board. Let me get more information on the thickness of this.

    Thank you,
    Josh Nachassi

  • Hi Jasmine,

I asked my team about this and they said that because this is a very old part there is no data supporting the thickness in the records. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Have a great weekend.

    Thank you,

    Josh Nachassi

  • Hi Josh,

My apologies but I am a little confused about your feedback and I think looking at the mechanical drawing may help. Can you please take a look at the snippet below and answer the questions in red text?

    Thanks,

    Jasmine

  • Hi Jasmine,

Hope you had a great weekend. I have just reached out to an expert regarding this, and I am waiting to hear back.

    Thank you,

    Josh Nachassi

  • Hi Jasmine,

I spoke to the manufacturing expert and they told me that it is a really old part and they do not have this information. The Sn/Ag/Cu is 60-120 micro inch, and we are likely that it is dipped in Au but it was not confirmed.

This was all the information I could gather. I hope this helps you.

    Thank you,

    Josh Nachassi
